describing the math

At whiteboards, I have made a rule that the problems we are solving - it is one person’s job to read the problem out loud and describe the math we are going to work with.

With problems that involve shapes, lines, angles, etc, it is amazing to hear kids describing math images, using vocabulary, and math talk.

Group roles freaking work.
