As I continue to try to fit in my metaphors everywhere I can into the classroom, I realized today that I use quizzes as check ins, and if we think as final unit tests as the summit, quizzes are waypoints.

Students HATE the word quizzes, they hate the word tests, they hate the pressure and the anxiety and the stress that comes along with them.

What if we helped change the way they think about them? Quizzes are just waypoints, quick check ins, along the path to our final summit.
